Loki X Deaf!Reader: Communication Problems (O-S!)

Asgard



You were sitting in your room reading, you were the only one in Asgard that was deaf. You had learned to speak sign language but no one could often understand you, you felt rather lonely. You suddenly saw the door open and Loki walk into the room, you put your book down.

You looked at him curiously, you had no idea why Frigga’s son Loki had decided to pay you a visit, you watched him write down something on a note pad.

Loki held it up so you could read it.

I’ve come to connect with you, my mother told me you were deaf so I thought I’d might try and use my magic to try and communicate with you.

You looked at Loki and shook your head knowing it probably wouldn’t work.

“You must have hope darling” Loki said, he sighed and ripped off the piece of paper and scrunched it up throwing it on the floor, he quickly began writing again, he then held it up to you.

When I was in Midgard, I learned a bit of sign language, he may not be the best…

You read the pad of paper and nodded, you walked over to your bed sitting down watching Loki looking at him curiously.

Loki ripped the piece of paper from the pad and scrunched it into a ball throwing it behind him, he put the pad of paper down along with a pen, he began moving his hands.

You looked at Loki confused having no idea what he was saying, What? You asked.

Loki sighed and picked up his pad of paper and began to write.

I said, how are you today?

You looked at the pad and nodded, That’s not what you said You replied.

Loki ripped off the piece of paper and scrunch it up and throw it aside.

“Yes it is, you idiot” Loki growled slightly, he sighed taking a deep breath, “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to get angry…” Loki muttered softly.

You looked at Loki confused not being able to read his lips.

Loki began writing again; he showed you the pad of paper.

I got a little frustrated, I apologize darling… Would you mind if I used some of my magic on you?

You shook your head, This is not going to work Loki, many sorcerers have tried curing me of being deaf, nothing had worked, I’m stuck like this.

Loki looked at you sadly.

You got up and walked out onto the balcony looking out to the beautiful city, you gently rested your hands on the rail sighing sadly.

Loki walked out onto the balcony, “I will do everything I can to cure your deafness… If I have to go to the pits of Muspelheim, I don’t care…” Loki said sternly.

You hated not being able to hear anything, you couldn’t hear the birds singing in the morning, not the sound of the music Asgardians would sing at festivals.

“I will do it because I love you… I’ve always loved you… Ever since we were children… I just never had the courage to tell you…” Loki muttered softly.

You turned around and saw Loki standing behind you talking away.

“I mean I know you can’t hear me, but I wish you could… I even told my mother that I’m in love with you… I know I’m babbling… But maybe if I kiss you, you would understand” Loki said.

You looked at Loki completely confused.

Loki cupped your cheeks and pulled you toward him pressing his soft lips against yours; Loki gently pulled away but kissed your upper lip softly.

You looked deeply into Loki’s emerald green eyes, you got lost in them.

Loki grinned at you charmingly.

Tears began to cloud in your eyes, you gently pushed Loki away running into your room, you closed the balcony doors locking them, you slid to the floor beginning to sob.

Loki appeared behind you looking at you puzzled.

You continued to sob, you couldn’t bare the fact of you never being able to hear Loki’s voice, you were in love with Loki as well but it broke your heart that you could never hear him say the words I love you.

Loki picked you up bridal style then sat you down on your bed; he kissed your forehead gently wiping your tears, “Shhhh… Don’t cry my darling…” Loki begged.

You cried even more, I love you.

Loki had no idea what you were saying, he knelt down in front of you gently wiping your tears, “I wish I could understand you…” Loki muttered softly.

You stood and used all your might to scream I love you at Loki, but all that came out was a squeak.

Loki looked at you worried; he walked up to you trying his best to read your lips.
I love you You said.

Loki still had no idea what you were saying.

I love you You said once more, “I don’t know what you’re saying!” Loki shouted looking down sadly, “I’m sorry! I don’t understand you!” Loki said.






A few weeks had passed


You told Loki every day when you saw him that you loved him but still, he did not understand what it meant. One day, you bumped into Loki and Thor, once again you told Loki, I love you, Loki didn’t say a word, all he did was walk away with his brother Thor.

Thor stopped Loki, “Is __________ deaf?” Thor asked.

“Yes you oaf” Loki replied crossing his arms.

“Oh…” Thor smiled innocently, “I thought she was just quiet…” Thor muttered softly, “Well… When I was in Midgard, Dr. Selvig taught me sign language, __________ just said she loved you brother Loki” Thor smiled.

Loki looked at Thor shocked; “She’s been telling me this every day for weeks now” Loki said, “She actually loves me back” Loki smiled happily.

Thor smiled and watched you walk away sadly.

“Could you translate for me?” Loki asked in a slightly begging tone.

“Of course brother” Thor grinned.

Loki ran up to you and grabbed your arm turning you around; Thor ran up beside him and gave you a soft smile.

You looked at the two brothers curiously.

Loki loves you back Thor said.

You looked at Loki and smiled happily, you hugged Loki tightly kissing him passionately, you lovingly grasped Loki’s hand.

“Tell her that I love her with all my heart, that I want to spend the rest of my life with her, marry her, give her anything in the universe she wants... That all I want to do is make her happy” Loki smiled at you.

You looked at Thor curiously who explained what Loki said in sign language, you looked up at Loki and smiled happily.

I want to spend the rest of my life with you too Loki, but…, you looked down sadly, But what breaks my heart is I will never ever be able to hear you speak, I could never hear the words I love you from you.

Thor explained to Loki what you had said.

Loki suddenly pulled you into his room and closed the door closing it and locking it, Loki turned around and looked at you, he grinned and cupped your cheeks, a green glow began to flow out of Loki’s hands.

You gasped as Loki suddenly leaned down kissing you passionately.

“Well? Can you hear me?” Loki asked looking at you curiously.

You looked at Loki shocked, you could hear the sound of Loki’s deep but gentle voice, you squealed and hugged Loki tightly kissing him passionately, “I can hear you!” You smiled.

You gasped looking at Loki shocked, “I can talk… I can talk” Your voice was a bit croaky but you didn’t care all that much.

Loki smiled and caressed his arms around your waist kissing your forehead, “I love you…” Loki whispered to you, you smiled happily letting a few happy tears slip down your cheeks, “I love you too Loki” You replied kissing him passionately.
